every second has something special to it weather it's a reaction or even a funny smear frame. and yes this cartoons are very shorts but they are packed with enough Action, Expresion, characters and just a joy to watch. such as Sonic being very bouncy in his movements while knuckles looking more stiff. also this is one thing that usually comes unoticed I love how each character has it's own level bouncines that corelates to the character's traits. and even Eggman's child like personality even for a ginius sientist. and the characters feel very well represented from Sonic's energetic cocky atitude to Tails admiration of Sonic but yet still being brave and helpful to Knuckles's obsesion of protecting the master emeralds and presentation of physical power. I love how the show focuses mostly on character expresions rather then dialouge to get the plot across rather then dialouge as actions usualy speak louder then words and can make some cooler looking scenes and shots. and it's also probably why I call it the dream cartoon, because if you are a big fan of the Classic Sonic games and always wanted to see it and it's world and characters in to a cartoon as I have this is probably the best we can get to having that. Thank you, Tyson Hesse!įor real, This Cartoon just looks and feels great and is a great adaption of the classic Sonic charactrers and doesit's job wonderfuly, as someone who grow up loving the Sonic CD animation and art style which I know a lot of people love as well, this is a dream come true, the characters all looks so expresive and look very faithful to their game counter part. The source material is followed properly while still trying to be something new, every character shines with comedy and charm, and if this somehow spawns something bigger and better for this fast-running rodent, then Sonic Mania Adventures, in my opinion, has already achieved its goal, and then some. Christian Whitehead and everyone else who put together Sonic Mania, the Number 1 Game of 2017, proved to be a good means of inspiration for this collection of enjoyable gags, clever situations, and showing the characters shining with their proper personalities through their actions as opposed to words, something that even the Genesis Trilogy (or at least Sonic the Hedgehog 3) pulled off tremendously. This is technically meant to be a five-part teaser to Sonic Mania Plus, but with the way Tyson Hesse and the rest of the staff handle this series, you'd assume it's the pilot of a much-needed cartoon show for everyone's favorite hedgehog, who, for the record, I personally think needs to stop being mistreated by the strangers who claim to be Sonic Team nowadays. And brings a smile to me every time I see it. Thank you so much for giving us an amazing mini-series SEGA, it's truly the best thing I've seen in a very long while. The music amazingly produced and up to par with everything that's happening in the animation it truly shows that a LOT of love was put into the development of this mini-series and is truly something that everyone can sit down and enjoy. The animation is very fluent and very smooth, not one thing about it stands out, it captures the characters classic representations very well. If you're just getting into the series/franchise, and have no clue what the Master Emerald is, from just watching how Knuckles interacts with it, you can tell of how important it is to him, and that he wants to protect it at all cost. Take Knuckles and the Master Emerald for an example. The animation style captures each character's personality spot-on with no mistakes. Words cannot, will not, and for sure just can't express how amazingly well done this mini-series is. I'd hate to end up writing a book about how much I enjoy this mini-series, based on my favorite gaming franchise of all time, but how can I not? That being said, I'll try and keep it to a minimum ahah. if this series is to develop into anything bigger, I would suggest keeping things simple with a maximum of 3 characters (ideally sonic, tails, and robtnik), light with no fight scenes, fast, and most of all, fun! take cues from the first episode. coincidentally, it mirrored exactly what happened to the game franchise after the original title. unfortunately as the series went on, it became violent - with too many characters added to keep track of. environments were colourful and the light plot didn't drag. while dr robotnik (or eggman as he's also known) was an intelligent villain, he wasn't to be taken too seriously. his 'attitude' was fast, playful, and cheeky. it was reminiscent of Sonic's first cartoon outing 'adventures of sonic the hedgehog'. I feel that the first episode achieved the perfect tone for the series. there is no voice acting, and the story is effectively told through movement, gestures, facial expressions, and music. This series is comprised of five 3 minute episodes, closely based on the classic video games.
